The spectrum of use of underwater drones is incredibly large. Such equipment is able to monitor underwater communications and coastlines, analyze the condition of underwater parts of ships and carry out inspections of coastal structures, scan the bottom for the presence of stones and other obstacles, check moorings, piers, dams, dams. Drones are also used for underwater mapping, taking samples for further analysis and observing the behavior of marine life.
Using drones for inspections is an effective way not only to significantly increase production efficiency, but also to ensure employee safety, as it eliminates the need for personnel to work in hazardous areas.
The Chasing M2 underwater drone is one of the most effective for such purposes. The drone is equipped with eight motors, a stabilized digital 4K camera, LED lamps with a capacity of 4000 lumens and is capable of diving to a depth of 100 meters.
We at DroneUA decided to test its effectiveness in practice and conducted a demonstration of the drone's capabilities for the Ports Administration of Ukraine in the Odesa Seaport.
During the demonstration, such elements of the vessel as the rudder, the propeller and the hull itself were examined. The underwater part of the pier structures was also investigated.
According to the results of research, we found that the visibility in sea water is much higher than in river water. No problems were noticed in the structures of the vessel and the pier.
During operation, the Chasing M2 showed excellent controllability, excellent shooting quality and image stabilization, smooth streaming, and also confirmed the technical characteristics declared by the developers.
