The innovative three-phase EcoFlow PowerOcean energy independence system enhances the energy self-sufficiency of homes, businesses, and social infrastructure. The product was introduced to the domestic market in the fall of the previous year by the DroneUA group of companies (Robotics Distribution, the exclusive distributor of EcoFlow in Ukraine). By the end of 2023, approximately 10 systems had been installed. We explore how users utilize PowerOcean to meet their individual needs in a customer case study.

Compared to other products of the brand, PowerOcean boasts the highest power output in the stationary solutions segment, up to 10 kW, enabling it to power energy-intensive devices and even industrial equipment. Thanks to the modularity and innovation of LFP batteries, the system allows for customizable battery capacity based on the user's needs, offering from 5 kWh to a maximum of 45 kWh. Another significant advantage of LFP-type storage units is their extended operational lifespan, which is 4-5 times longer than regular lithium-ion batteries. All of these factors combined result in a unique product backed by a 15-year warranty.

Case Study

Choosing an Energy-Independent Solution: a 10 kWh Three-Phase Hybrid Inverter with three LFP batteries with a total capacity of 15 kWh, and19 stationary EcoFlow solar panelswith a total capacity of 7 kW.

Installation Purpose: Energy autonomy for a private house.

Usage Period: 2 months.

Object's Residential Area: 168 sq. meters.

Geographic Location: Kyiv region.

Electrical Load on the Property: During the winter months, an average of about 1,500 kWh per month.

Daily Electricity Consumption: 40-60 kWh in the winter and 7-12 kWh in the summer.

Electricity Generation from Solar Panels: With a total panel capacity of 7 kW, maximum daily electricity generation in the fall-winter period was 2-3 kWh, and in the summer, it reached 20-30 kWh.

Prospects for Usage: The presence of a hybrid inverter in combination with an increase in the number of solar panels ensures higher electricity generation. This allows for energy storage for personal use, selling it back to the grid through Net Billing, or reserving it for future use.

Smart Control System Capabilities: A mobile application enables remote control and monitoring of energy usage, optimizing consumption and storage. Additionally, the app provides the ability to track generation and estimate the potential cost of consumed energy.

“The 15 kWh PowerOcean system turned out to be optimal for my electricity consumption needs. What prompted my choice was the three-phase inverter, which allows me to use the necessary and energy-intensive devices simultaneously", — the user explains.

"To support and enhance the autonomy of my home from the centralized power grid, I purchased and installed 19 solar panels on the roof with a total capacity of 7 kW, which I connected to the PowerOcean system. Over 2 months, the system and solar panels provided me with 30% of free alternative energy, generating 729 kWh from the used 2400 kWh. According to my calculations, from May to October, this number of solar panels will generate approximately 5000-6000 kWh of electricity, powering my home 100% and even selling the surplus back to the grid", — the homeowner said.

Contemplating the near future, the owner of the PowerOcean system mentioned that he is considering purchasing an electric car, so he plans to install an additional 8 solar panels: "I plan to charge my electric car at home, which is much more cost-effective. PowerOcean allows me to obtain up to 14.5 kW of electricity per hour from the sun and choose the battery charging time independently. This way, I can replenish my system with electricity from the centralized grid at night, when the tariff is lower, and use it during the day when the cost is higher. Therefore, increasing the number of solar panels will enable me to fully utilize the capabilities of PowerOcean. In this case, it will take two days in the summer to fully charge a car battery with a capacity of 85 kWh. For comparison, at a fast charging station, I would have to purchase 340 kWh of electricity per month, which would allow me to cover approximately 1,500 km of travel within a month", — he concluded.

PowerOcean for Business

Sergei Silin, the brand manager for EcoFlow in Ukraine, explained that the stationary PowerOcean system is capable of providing energy stability not only for private homes but also for businesses: "Small businesses, such as dental clinics, banks, pawnshops, cafes, and bakeries, can also use PowerOcean for zoned and efficient energy supply. The system is powerful, with a maximum capacity of up to 45 kWh, easy to install, and can be used both indoors and outdoors, as it is entirely safe and emission-free. The station can be controlled directly through a smartphone application, allowing real-time monitoring of the system's current status at any moment".

The current state of Ukraine's energy infrastructure and an analysis of future prospects indicate that the centralized system requires a reduction in overall load, and there is also an expected increase in electricity prices. At the same time, European perspectives offer opportunities to increase the share of "green" energy in the country. Therefore, it is expected that the demand for private stationary energy independence systems in 2024 will increase. DroneUA Group will continue to expand its range of energy-independent solutions and introduce EcoFlow brand innovations to ensure that every Ukrainian household and business achieves their energy stability.
