On August 31, a master class on the use of drones in agriculture was held - DroneDay AgroTech. This is the first Agrotech event in Unit.city, which will be further complemented by other local initiatives for the formation of the Business Eco System, based on the Unit.City innovation park
The use of drones in agriculture is a combination of the fields of robotics, iOt and agro. Drones are already indispensable assistants in the fields, significantly increasing the efficiency of agricultural enterprises.
At the meeting, the company’s specialists shared their own experience with the guests and told them what exactly can be done using agricultural drones, what data to obtain and how profitable it is.
Today, there are several methods for collecting information from the air - satellite monitoring, monitoring using classical aviation and unmanned aerial vehicles. Drone data collection is the most effective and most accessible aerial monitoring method of all, although it is often used in combination with free satellite imagery.
Such data makes it possible to construct fertilizer application maps, create a qualitative and quantitative analysis of seedlings, and estimate the timing of sowing or harvesting. All this significantly saves the resources of any agricultural enterprise or even a small individual farm.
Drone data collection
When collecting information from the air, the main thing is not to get the overall picture, but to do it correctly, which requires certain professional skills. At DroneDay AgroTech, guests learned how to correctly build flight routes, take overlapping images and obtain high-quality material for subsequent processing.
Processing data from drones
Today there are many software products that offer functionality for processing information from UAVs. Some of them have already achieved sufficient automation. At DroneDay, DroneUA specialists conducted an introductory master class on working in Pix4D. This software product is one of the leaders in the market of professional software for interpreting drone data.
The advantages of working in Pix4D are, first of all, the ability to manually control processes at each stage of data processing, which allows you to achieve greater accuracy; the ability to take into account the features of various spectral sensors; creation of radiometric and geometrically accurate index maps; Availability of a flight app and ease of use.
Partnership with European technologies
As a result of successful cooperation with the Pix4D office in Switzerland, DroneUA has become a national distributor of advanced software in Ukraine. The company is responsible for the implementation and implementation of technology throughout the country, and also conducts all technical and accompanying processes. In addition, Pix4D software is used in the updated configuration of the PD1900 aircraft from DroneUA..
Improving DroneUA technologies
At the event, an updated version of DroneUA’s own development, the PD1900 aircraft platform, intended for use in agriculture, was presented. The platform has received updated flight characteristics and is available with Pix4D software. Flight time reaches 120 minutes, and the drone is designed to cover more than 1,700 hectares in one flight, or up to 5,000 hectares per day. The PD1900 Combo platform is already equipped with all the necessary accessories and comes with flight and data training.
results
As a result of the meeting, the guests learned about the features of using UAVs in the agricultural sector, learned the basics of data processing from drones and talked with specialists and consultants from the largest integrator of unmanned technologies in Ukraine. All event participants will be able to apply the acquired knowledge independently for free, receiving a bonus from the organizers - a free extended license of Pix4D Mapper Pro for a period of 25 days.
