New technologies to serve the oil and gas industry, drones from DroneUA for detecting methane leaks are presented in Ukraine
Methane leaks in the gas industry pose a serious danger to the environment; these are risks for both enterprise personnel and infrastructure. Ensuring the safety of oil and gas pipelines, tanks or infrastructure facilities is one of the most costly items in production and transportation structures. With the help of drone technology and the ability to remotely detect gas leaks, work can be done more efficiently with less cost and risk for company employees.
Technology
For remote detection of methane leaks, the laser spectroscopy method is used using sensors installed on drones. Data received from laser sensors is combined with flight data from an unmanned vehicle and information received from visual sensors. As a result, the drone can detect gas leaks at a distance of up to 100 meters in concentrations above the level of 5ppm (parts per million).

Application
Gas leak detection is critical for the entire vertical of oil and gas enterprises. The use of sensors in combination with data from drone flight controllers allows you to quickly respond to identified problems and allows you to coordinate the work of other services, which is especially important both during emergencies and routine inspections.
Both in the case of high-pressure gas pipelines and low-pressure gas transmission networks, the use of drones can improve the efficiency and quality of personnel work.
