The company Drone.UA has returned from the world's largest specialized exhibition in the field of geodesy, geoinformatics and land management – InterGeo 2016. This event has been bringing together all the major suppliers and users of geodetic and navigation products under one roof for more than 20 years.

At meetings with key partners, Drone.UA demonstrated their latest developments in the field of unmanned technologies, software, data processing, and shared their experience of implementing their own technologies on two million hectares of Ukrainian land, which is a unique indicator in the world.

Employees of UAV.tools, a joint venture of Drone.UA, shared their work with colleagues in the field of inspection and data processing for more than 200 mining sites in the European Union.

This year, the entire pavilion was occupied by heavy platforms from such manufacturers as: Quantum system, Dji, Italdron, Terra Drone, Smartplanes, Sensefly, Sirius, etc., which perform various tasks in agriculture, geodesy, topography, etc.

An interesting product was presented by Quantum System — Quantum TRON. This is an unmanned aircraft for professionals, with a vertical take-off and landing function. During a flight mission, this drone flies like an airplane. These functions are implemented using thrust vector control of the main engines.

Drone.UA's partners, Pix4D, presented several new products, the first of which – processing customer data using cloud technologies. The farmer no longer needs to have a specialist and a powerful computer for image processing on his staff. It is enough to have a Pix4D account, purchase a license, and access to the Internet. The drone or airplane flies according to the flight mission, uploads images and basic information (NDVI indexes) to the cloud, where Pix4D software and specialists stitch the images into the finished product.

Second product — BIM (Building Information Management) construction monitoring system, which allows you to load data from daily flights from the construction site. Top management no longer needs to be on site every day, and the customer and contractor specialists can see the construction process in the form of a daily data slice on an orthomosaic. This ensures control of the movement of equipment, labor, the use of materials, the speed of construction in individual areas and the compliance of these data with the construction schedule, design documentation, and drawings.

In addition, the system provides for the use of not only drones, but also ordinary construction cranes as a tool for shooting from a height. Every morning before starting work, the crane performs a “site inspection.” along a specific route programmed into his memory.

Given the fact that about 15% of the construction budget is allocated to contingency (unforeseen circumstances), the savings when using a BIM system for monitoring and operational management are obvious.

If we compare it with last year’s exhibition, where half of the pavilion was occupied by drones and unmanned technologies, this year the representation of this area has tripled! Most of it was taken up by heavy platforms, data processing software from companies such as Satlab, Pix4D, laser scanning technologies (LiDAR) from YellowScan, cameras and sensors, indoor 3D modeling technologies (NavVis - creating panoramas of interiors and premises) and outdoor (SatLab – terrain modeling following the example of Google Street View), cloud technologies for data analysis and processing.

Trends: Manufacturers and consumers are going for “precision” using an RTK signal that allows measurements to be made with an accuracy of several centimeters.

As part of the exhibition, a panel discussion was held with the support of Intel, at which they discussed the use of drones in industry and agriculture, the introduction of cloud technologies in business processes, as well as – industry development prospects for 2017.

Summary: InterGeo 2016 – an exhibition that gives impetus to manufacturers and businesses to introduce new technologies, exchange experiences, and definitely this is the best place to show yourself!
