More than forty thousand people around the world took part in the first ever International Drone Day.
Kyiv was chosen to represent Ukraine on March 22, 2015 at the first annual International Drone Day. The event featured participants from all over the country from Odessa to Transcarpathia, from hobbyists to leading Kyiv developers of unmanned systems working in the east. The event was attended by more than 100 people, and more than half of the visitors were able to gain experience operating a drone for the first time.
This was one of more than 150 similar events around the world, which took place over several weeks in different parts of our planet. The main goal – communicate that drone technologies are primarily peaceful tools and can be applied in useful ways in a wide variety of areas. Our main message: “Drones Are good!”
Drones – it is not a means of harming people or spying. On the contrary, they are used in search and rescue, law enforcement, firefighting, environmental monitoring and control, agriculture, etc. And this is not a complete list of the peaceful uses of drones, since the areas and methods of application are increasing every day. International Drone Day in Ukraine has become direct proof that drones can not only be successfully used in civilian areas, but also that this technology is comfortable and accessible to everyone.
During 2014 in Ukraine, unmanned technologies were actively used in military conflicts and security operations, but this did not prevent the development of the market for unmanned vehicles in such areas as agriculture, mining, cinematography, etc.
In Ukraine, the event was organized by Drone.UA, a provider of unmanned solutions and services, and Flytechnology, the official dealer of DJI in Ukraine.
«We are glad that we were able to join such a global initiative. Now the opportunity to show the potential of platforms in the peaceful skies of our country is critically important.” — noted Valeriy Yakovenko, head of the Ukrainian team of International Drone Day and co-founder of Drone.UA.
Director of Marketing and Public Relations FlyTechnology, Denis Seletsky, gave his assessment of the event: “We are extremely interested in holding such events. Especially if we are supported by such a giant as DJI. I believe that we fully achieved the goals we set and Drone Day was truly successful. Just look at the number of copters in the sky. This has never happened in Ukraine before, that’s for sure. In the near future, even larger-scale events are coming to popularize drones in Ukraine. The opening of this season will be remembered by everyone, we guarantee that!'
