On October 6, at the scientific and practical conference “Unmanned Technologies”, on the basis of the Kirovograd Flight Academy of NAU, an updated concept for regulating the operation of UAVs or drones was presented.
DroneUA, Smart Trading, the official distributor of DJI in Ukraine, as well as a number of other companies were present at the conference and took part in the round table discussion. We offer our conclusions on the stated concept:
In the new edition, ultra-small drones weighing up to 250 grams are placed in a separate class.
Sports drones, as well as flight processes organized by federations or associations, are not considered within the framework of the updated concept of UAV regulation, and are regulated by the Air Code of Ukraine.
The concept of UAV registration has been formed for the categories of small UAVs, weighing from 2 kg, and Small UAVs used for commercial purposes.
The concept of registration has been abolished, online registration is provided on the information resources of the State Aviation Service.
To carry out commercial activities, there is a requirement for the pilot to have a certificate granting the right to operate a UAV.
Limitations on operating altitudes remained unchanged, up to 120 meters, with the possibility of changing these limits upon individual requests.
The radius of possible operation has been increased from 500 meters to flights in the line of sight.
In the new edition, Ultra-small UAVs weighing up to 250 grams are considered as equipment used for entertainment, with the corresponding requirements:
Small drones, weighing from 250 grams to 20 kg, are divided into categories:
• equipment from 250 grams to 2 kg, used for non-commercial purposes,
• equipment from 2 kg to 20 kg, used for non-commercial purposes
• equipment from 250 grams to 20 kg, used for non-commercial purposes.
With the corresponding requirements:
The requirements for medium and large UAVs are noted below:
