Safety — This is important; more and more often we are faced with questions and even the need to obtain additional protection for our equipment. Working in challenging environments requires ways to reduce risks.
DroneUA has become the official distributor of ParaZero and M.A.R.S. in Ukraine. Companies that create devices to protect drones of almost any configuration.
PARAZERO and M.A.R.S – These are parachute-type accessories that will serve as protection for the drone in case of an emergency.
Why does a drone need a parachute?
In the design of a quadcopter, the parachute acts as a kind of lifebuoy in case of unforeseen situations.
They are indispensable in the following cases:
- if the main systems of the device suddenly stopped working;
- when the battery is completely discharged;
- if the blade was damaged;
- if the vehicle collides at a height with another object, etc.
Operating principle
The rescue system is triggered by a signal from a special controller on board. Also, it can be activated manually using the remote control. Some models have a variety of sensors, and if they detect a dangerous angle of inclination or stoppage of the propellers, they will automatically signal the release of the parachute.
How to choose?
First of all, you should pay attention to the size of the canopy of the parachute itself. Ideally, it should match the weight of the aircraft. If the canopy is significantly smaller than this indicator, then the parachute simply will not be able to effectively perform its functions. A canopy that is too large also does not save the situation, because in emergency situations it may simply not open.
ParaZero parachute system
The Israeli company ParaZero has developed and tested a parachute for unmanned aerial vehicles, which will save the drone from hitting the ground and protect bystanders from injury.
Characteristic
The system, called SafeAir, is intended for professional heavy aircraft, although it is also used for amateur multicopters weighing a couple of kg. If necessary, the parachute is fired using a squib or a spring, managing to open in just two meters of the uncontrolled fall of the device. The drone's descent speed with an open parachute is 20 km/h, and the SafeAir system automatically activates a light and sound alarm that notifies others about the drone's fall. These are the most advanced systems that provide the maximum level of safety for the Matrice 200-210RTK and Matrice 600 industrial platforms.
Parachute activation can be configured either by operator command, or you can set parameters for automatic system activation based on sensor readings. For example, SafeAir can shoot a parachute when the drone is at a critical angle, in free fall, the engine is turned off, or the specified flight boundaries are violated. Using a parachute can both prevent damage to the aircraft and minimize the risk of injury to passersby or damage to other people's property.
