At the Open Talk with DroneUA, Valery Yakovenko, together with agribusiness experts, will tell whether the Ukrainian market can achieve an additional yield of 215,000 tons of rapeseed on a national scale thanks to the use of agrodrones.
Rapeseed is a strategically important and high-margin crop in demand on the international market. Considering forecasts of reduced rapeseed production in the EU, the export potential of Ukrainian rapeseed is increasing.
However, even under ideal conditions, rapeseed is a crop that requires attention and care. Variable weather conditions during the 2024 agricultural season, particularly the lack of moisture, raise concerns about this year's yield potential.
In spring, it is necessary to prevent rapeseed lodging and rapid growth using growth regulators. However, at the time of harvest, plants may have different degrees of maturity, which can lead to a 50% yield loss. To prevent premature pod shattering and losses, adhesives should be applied.
What to do before the start of harvesting? Applying desiccants, which will dry the rapeseed, allowing for faster harvesting with lower moisture content. Desiccation is best done using agro drones. The absence of physical contact with the crop prevents losses from trampling and shattering.
